Prevention and self-healing of cancer

The word ‘cancer’ itself evokes emotions of fear and sadness from the majority of people around us. Cancer is one of the most fatal non-communicable diseases that plague the world population. Currently, with the passing away of two famous Bollywood actors due to this deadly disease, the panic regarding this sickness has increased.

It is seen through a lot of cases, how even after the administration of advanced, expensive treatments, cancer still triumphs. And hence, we should remember that in some cases, cancer is just unstoppable. However, we have a few tips on how to prevent cancer, thereby reducing the probability that you could be diagnosed with it.

1. Avoid Unhealthy Habits

Statistics show that the majority of the reported cases of lung cancer had a smoking history attached to it. This is also true with liver cancer, as most of the patients were heavy drinkers. Cutting away such unhealthy habits not only reduces your risks of being diagnosed with cancer but also improves your general health. Also be sure to always apply sunscreen before stepping out, as this will help reduce your chances of developing skin cancer.

2. Practice Healthy Measures

Following a well-balanced, nutritious diet rich with leafy greens and fruits helps to keep your immune system strong and decrease the chances of the liver, or kidney cancer. The best diet recommended to prevent cancer is the Mediterannean diet filled with olive oil and nuts. Maintaining a healthy body by practicing daily physical exercises will also help reduce the risk of contracting colon cancer or breast cancer.

3. Get Regular Vaccines and Health Checkups

Vaccines against sexually transmitted diseases such as Hepatitis-B and Human Papillomavirus can reduce the risk of contracting cancer in the genital areas. It also goes without saying to practice safe sex measures to avoid the transmission of such STDs. Be sure to get regular health checkups to either detect cancer in the early stages, or to warn you about the likelihood of its development.

4. Maintain Good Mental Health

Studies report that stress and emotional pain are linked to the development of cancer such as lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc. It occurs mainly due to chronic stress triggered by working in a job that you don’t like, continually facing financial problems, living in an abusive household, etc. It is always recommended to talk about your problems to friends, family or even trusted counselors and psychologists. Practicing healthy measures such as meditation and journaling will also help reduce stress.

Self Healing of Cancer

Upon the onset of cancer, it is recommended to follow up on the prescribed treatment that your doctor has advised. But in addition to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery, there are other healing methods we can follow that not only help to treat cancer, but also make the journey of cancer less painful.

1. Music Therapy

Music therapy helps to calm down patients when administered by a certified music therapist. It has been shown to reduce nausea and vomiting of cancer patients, and also helps to enforce positivity in their minds. This form of treatment also relieves them of pain.

2. Yoga And Exercise

Light exercise and yoga have been proved to increase the general well-being of cancer patients, since it alleviates physical pain, relieves them from nausea, and helps them sleep better at night. The deep breathing of yoga also disperses the stress that people might be feeling.

3. Indulging In Alternate Forms Of Therapy

Alternative forms of therapy induce natural healing when administered by a trained professional, with sterile equipment. Examples of alternative forms of therapy include aromatherapy, acupuncture, hypnotism, etc. These are proven to relieve stress and anxiety, calm the patients, and help them believe that they are going to be alright.

In addition to all these, it is important to take your prescribed medicines at the right time, do your required cardio exercises, and make it in time for your doctor’s appointments.

According to the ‘Placebo’ effect, it is proven that a healthy, positive state of mind, where patients believe that they will be able to overcome the situation is extremely vital in order to fight through any illness. Staying positive and having hope is extremely essential.
